Well, it’s official. Our Portland store has some new neighbors in the form of a cool little restaurant/bar called Dig A Pony, named after the Beatles song. The owners: Aaron, Paige and Jacob met with me several months ago about using our Hood lights to illuminate their bar, and they graciously agreed to blog for us on the Projects Blog about their remodel.
They had their Grand Opening in late July, and I stopped by hoping to snag some pictures of the new space. It was a good news/bad news sort of situation. The good news: the place was PACKED! I mean shoulder-to-shoulder people, packed. The bad news: try as I might, I was quite unsuccessful in capturing any photos worth sharing due to my slight stature and the presence of many people much taller than I. So I stayed for a bit and enjoyed the celebration, while formulating my plan to come back at a quieter hour to get the photos I missed.
While I was at our Salvage Secrets event, it occurred to me to stop by Dig A Pony for lunch with a colleague from Arciform (who also participated in yesterday’s event). I was so excited to see the place in daylight and sample their menu! When we arrived, we discovered that they don’t open until 4:00, but Aaron Hall, one of the owners, spotted us outside and invited us in for a behind-the-scenes look at the place. Perfect! Here are the pictures:

Part of the renovation to the new Dig A Pony space was adding lots of windows. Sitting at the bar looking our to Grand Ave. was the next best thing to sitting outside. A great view of the city and perfect for people watching.

Eight of our Hood pendants hang over the horseshoe-shaped bar. That's Aaron Hall, co-owner, fixing me a Digroni (think Negroni- Dig A Pony style)

Spencer practiced his "product placement" to get Arciform included in the blog post. The view of the bar and beyond is what I was aiming for in this shot though.

Beautiful! Just forwarded this post to my wife; I hope we can go enjoy the lighting and the bar sometime soon.
Great! Be sure to let us know how you like it. I highly recommend the ginger-sweet potato fries.
Definitely my newest favorite watering hole. Such a cool spot! Congrats Aaron, Paige and Jacob.
