Our new Berkeley store opens June 23, and the excitement is building. After much hard work, we’re checking the last few items off of a very long list that includes designing in-store displays, building hardware boards, and last but not least, hanging the light fixtures.
Because our strong customer base in Berkeley was a huge part of what inspired us to open a store there, we are thrilled to be able to share the Rejuvenation experience with them. Not only will the store include lighting and hardware (and lots of it!), it will also feature furniture, housewares, vintage rugs, and salvage pieces. This mix of items can only be seen in four places in the country: Portland, Seattle, Los Angeles, and now Berkeley.
As we always say, “Salvage is in our DNA.” We make a point of incorporating one-of-a-kind reclaimed pieces into our stores. The Berkeley location is no exception. There are a couple of display pieces in particular that we’re especially excited about: a vintage 1950s circus banner and an early 1960s Canada Dry billboard, both procured by our Salvage Department. Allegedly, the circus banner was once used as a movie prop. And the Canada Dry billboard…well, that’s just an all-around gem. It’s extremely rare that a billboard from this period would be so well preserved. Usually, it would have been torn down, painted over, or damaged by weather. So, we feel fortunate to have this wonderful find hanging up for all to enjoy.
Another thing that gets Rejuvenation folks all abuzz is what fixtures will hang on the exterior of the new store. We take our buildings seriously, so selecting the just-right fixture is no small thing. For our Berkeley location, we chose the Carson, one of our warehouse fixtures, topped off with a Tomato deep dome shade. We just can’t get enough of these striking outdoor fixtures with their industrial roots, and love the impact they have in multiples. We opted for the scroll arm support, which adds a fanciful note to both the fixture and the building—proving, once again, that the right light is a great finishing touch.
