Make a Mantle Statement. A Guest Post by Joanne Palmisano.

I love this time of year. Not only do I get to put a fire in my fireplace, but I get to pull out all my beautiful throws for the couches and decorate my mantle. I want my house to feel cozy and inviting for all the guests who come by for a cup of coffee or even a weekend stay. When I saw this piece of iron work hanging in the Portland, Oregon, Rejuvenation Store, it reminded me of the piece I put on my own mantle. I also showed how to use architectural metal pieces on another mantle in my book, Salvage Secrets.  So have some fun with this season’s decor — think salvage!

Joanne spotted this piece of ironwork hanging in Rejuvenation's salvage department in Portland.
