Adding hand-painted stripes to our shades is a way of adding color and interest to some of our most popular fixtures. Recently we updated our stripe patterns and colors to make them more compatible with current interior design trends– but as always, with a basis in historic designs.
We think the metallic Silver and Copper colors are especially distinctive and can nicely unify the shade and fixture finish. The popular colors we’ve offered for years are still there, just applied with a lighter touch. We’ve added Brown and Black as neutrals. For a really subtle look, Eggshell is barely there- it sort of magically appears when the light is turned on.
As always, we’re interested to hear what you think. Do you like the new patterns and colors? Would a more decorative pattern beyond just stripes be useful for you?

I have the schoolhouse light with silver hand-painted finishes in my kitchen! They are gorgeous!
I think the metallic stripe shades bridge the 1920-1960 period beautifully.
My 1916 kitchen has a mix of styles. It was updated around 1930 with Deco drawer pulls, but still has its original subway tile backsplashe and beadboard paneling.
I bought a Baldwin in polished nickel finish, paired with a 14 inch silver stripped schoolhouse shade. It works with everything.
Please, please bring back the green stripes. I was about to buy them for my bathroom and found they’ve been discontinued.
The weird thing is that just about everything I get from Rejuvenation gets discontinued. The finish that matches my original fixtures is no longer offered, and the shades I had planned to buy all got discontinued, too. Don’t try to be quite so fashion-forward. Remember, a lot of us are trying to restore old houses to a period style, not make them match “current interior design trends.”
