Rejuvenation lighting has popped up in all sorts of movies over the years, but one of my favorite appearances actually happened in 1944.
To Have and Have Not – worth watching to see Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall fall in love on screen – features the Irvington‘s original incarnation (with some gorgeous Holophane shades).
Sure, there are some variations — the turnkey sockets, the larger ball body. The Irvington’s scale is definitely more suited for lighting your dining room table than a smokey Martinique hotel. But 70 years later, this fixture is well worth a whistle.
